Ley Line

Biography

Four voices coalesce. Rooted in rhythm. The women of Ley Line transcend language and genres to create a sound that seems to emerge from deep within the earth. Dynamic harmonies run like a current through textures of stand up bass, guitar, ukulele and percussion. Raised on the North American traditions of blues, folk and soul and inspired by their world travels, Ley Line creates a global soundscape; blending rhythms and influences from Brazil, Latin America and West Africa. Through intimate live performances and multilingual lyrics, Ley Line’s music inspires connection across the peaks and valleys of the human experience.

In 2017, Ley Line spent three months on a self-managed tour through Brazil exploring a place of great influence in our music. The tour was filmed to capture the essence of the musical journey, which we are currently editing and producing as a visual album. Amongst the difficult decisions, logistical mixups, surprising successes, and heart-filling relationships, we wrote several new songs together. The trip inspired a new sense of collaboration where we shared our melodies, lyrics and instrumentation, and composed music that blends the languages we have learned through traveling. We took this music on our last self-booked and managed tour through Colorado which was very successful. Upon returning home, the fall served as a time to focus on how we want to evolve as artists here at home and continue finishing our projects with the Brazil tour.

We are continuing the producing/mixing/mastering of the LP and the visual album. The album and visual album are planned for release in Spring 2020. We’re touring the west coast, playing Old Settlers MF, Kerville Folk Festival, and will return to the Pacific Northwest for the Northwest String summit in late July.
